How Round-Up Savings Works

round up savings icon showing money moving to piggy bank

When you pay with cash, you can set aside your leftover change. Think of Round-Up Savings as a digital change jar for your debit card purchases. No piggy bank needed.

Once you sign up, each eligible debit card purchase is rounded up to the next whole dollar. At the end of each business day, your round-ups are combined and transferred from your checking account to your linked savings account. The more you use your debit card, the more you save.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are all debit cards linked to my checking account included?

Yes. Enrollment applies to the checking account, not an individual debit card. Eligible purchases made with any Midland debit card linked to that account, including cards issued to joint owners and authorized cardholders, are included. All round-ups go to the same linked savings account.

Which purchases qualify?

Most everyday debit card purchases qualify after they post and clear. This may include purchases made in stores, online, through digital wallets and through recurring debit card payments. A posted debit card transaction is a debit card purchase or payment that has been completed and settled and is reflected in a withdrawal from your account balance.

ATM transactions, fees, transfers, pending transactions, and whole-dollar purchases do not qualify for round-ups.

When are round-ups transferred?

Round-ups are added together and transferred after each business day. You will generally see one combined transfer instead of a separate transfer for each purchase. Purchases made on weekends or holidays are included after they post and clear on a business day.

What happens if I do not have enough money in my checking account?

The transfer will be skipped if sufficient available funds are not present or if the transfer would overdraw your checking account. Skipped round-ups will not be transferred later.

What happens if a purchase is refunded or reversed?

If the round-up has already been transferred, it will remain in your savings account.

Is there a fee?

There is no fee to participate in Round-Up Savings. Regular checking and savings account fees and terms still apply.

Do round-ups count toward other account requirements?

No. Round-Up transfers do not count as debit card purchases, direct deposits, or other qualifying deposits for earning benefits or avoiding account fees.

Can I link more than one checking or savings account?

No. Each enrollment links one eligible checking account to one eligible savings account. If you have multiple accounts, choose the checking account and the savings account you want to use. Eligible purchases from any Midland debit card linked to that checking account will round up into the selected savings account.

Can I change my linked account or cancel?

Yes. Visit a Midland location or call Customer Care at 1-855-696-4352.
