Our History

Midland States Bank was established in 1881 as the Private Bank of Eversman, Wood & Engbring by four men from different walks-of-life.

They were brought together by a common desire to create a bank that served their community and its people with integrity and honor. Despite an economic depression in the 1870s, these four partners put their faith in the future of their neighbors - a faith that remains strong today. In 1919, Midland States Bank (known then as the Effingham State Bank) formed a trust department to assist individuals, business owners and not-for-profit organizations.

Today, with our significant increase in talent, customers and assets under administration now reaching over $1.9 billion, we are confident we are positioned to provide clients with resources to help them achieve their financial goals. Wealth management continues to be a core strategy of Midland States Bank. We are committed to providing our clients with the intellectual and financial resources to achieve success.
